A playful entry point into sign-language learning
Fun Learning apps are designed as “on-ramps” to your sign-language ecosystem. They help children, families and new learners build initial familiarity with signs and basic structures through play, before moving on to more structured learning.
Instead of asking users to start with a full course from day one, you invite them into a safe, low-threshold environment where they can explore, experiment and build confidence — while still working with accurate, expert-curated language data.
Why this matters for your deployment
- Improves engagement, especially for younger learners and families.
- Provides a gentle first step before more formal learning paths.
- Showcases your project in a way that is easy to demonstrate to donors and partners.
- Can be tailored to campaigns, awareness days or specific target groups.
Gamified content built on your sign-language data
All Fun Learning apps reuse the same dictionary entries, videos and concepts managed in the Language Management app. This ensures consistency across games, lessons, stories and reference materials — and reduces maintenance effort.
Mini-games, quizzes and challenges
Short, focused activities that can be completed in a few minutes — ideal for everyday practice and quick wins.
- Matching games between written words, images and video signs.
- Multiple-choice quizzes for recognizing signs and meanings.
- Timed challenges to make repetition engaging and memorable.
Building foundations through play
The focus of Fun Learning apps is to establish the basics: core vocabulary, simple structures and everyday situations.
- Introductory sets for common topics (family, school, daily routines, emotions, etc.).
- Content aligned with the same CEFR-inspired levels used in the main Learning App.
- Activities designed for different age groups and experience levels.
Smooth transition to structured learning
As learners progress in the Fun Learning apps, they are gradually invited to continue their journey in the main Learning App and to explore more in the Resources Hub.
- Contextual prompts linking to relevant lessons and stories in the Learning App.
- Suggestions to explore specific resources, organizations or events in the Resources Hub.
- Optionally, links towards surveys or questionnaires managed through Language Management or the Hub.
Gamification that supports healthy motivation
Gamification elements are used to encourage regular practice and a positive learning experience — not to create pressure or distraction.
- Progress indicators, streaks and simple achievements to celebrate consistency.
- Missions and challenges tailored to age groups or project goals.
- Design options agreed with you to match your audience and values.
Part of one ecosystem — flexible in implementation
Fun Learning apps do not live in isolation. They are intentionally connected to the Learning App, Resources Hub and Language Management — technically and conceptually.
During implementation, we agree with you how deep the integration should be: from simple redirects and shared data, to more advanced flows where the Resources Hub or Language Management handle surveys, questionnaires or specific feedback inputs coming from the games.
Configurable per project
- Choice of game types and age groups.
- Decide which data flows into analytics and reporting.
- Option to route surveys and questions to Resources Hub or expert teams.
Designed with impact in mind
- Supports your outreach, awareness and inclusion goals.
- Provides concrete engagement metrics for donors and funders.
- Helps convert casual interest into sustained learning and community building.
How it connects to other SignLingo apps
- Language Management: provides the dictionary entries, videos and metadata used in games.
- Learning App: receives learners once they are ready for more structured lessons and stories.
- Resources Hub: highlights the Fun Learning apps as entry points and can host related surveys and information.
Together, these four components form a coherent journey: from first playful contact with sign language to advanced learning and expert-level resources.
One ecosystem, four roles — Fun Learning as the playful front door
